So off we go to Rocamadour, a little over an hour north east of Prayssac.
A spectacularly situated village clinging to the side of a steep gorge.
As we approached and were very close we thought we must see it soon and as we drove around the corner, the view appeared:
It is truly amazing how these places are tucked away and could almost be missed, but for a bit of knowledge, persistence and of course Sat Nav.
The easiest place to park is in the valley below so a fairly steep climb is required up to the village. The alternative is a little train but I thought the risk of being seen by someone who knows me far too great for that!
With a church and battlements above the village it looks like a scene from ‘Game Of Thrones’ and as you walk the slope to the top, the view changes constantly and Buzzards fly overhead.
We arrive, somewhat warmer at the top where an automated machine to gain access to the apparently ‘impressive’ battlements, takes the only coins we haven’t got so we save that pleasure for another time!
An easier wander back down to the village and lunch follows, where I manage to get served the smaller of the two very tasty omelettes that arrive at our table! A few minutes later I had recovered however and didn’t resent it at all…….!
All in all another great fact finding day which we can thoroughly recommend when you come and visit us in Prayssac at La Maison Cèdre.
